St Barnabas has touched the lives of many people through Weddings, Baptisms and Funerals – in the beautiful St Barnabas Church and through the people who make up the Church family. The clergy and people of St Barnabas are here to support all people of the community in times of joy and sadness – the Christian faith offers meaning and hope in both fullness and emptiness.
Baptism is about belonging to God’s family and beginning a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ. From the earliest days of the Church, infants and young children born into Christian families were also welcomed into the Church through baptism. Jesus himself welcomed little children and blessed them. We would love to meet with you to talk about the baptism of your child. Infant baptisms usually take place on Sunday mornings during Lifestreams – lots of children and families will be present to share this special occasion with you. If you are an adult and want to be baptized that can also be arranged. Just complete the baptism request form below or call the Parish Office on 351 7064 if you would like more information and one of our parish clergy will arrange to meet you.
Baptism – family affair with lots of children looking on!
St Barnabas has long been a favourite Christchurch venue for weddings with its beautiful stone church and grounds. Right now we await its repair and strengthening and so it's not available until early 2017. However our hall is still available for weddings and we’d love to support you on your special day. One of our priests can guide you through the process and we also offer flowers, an organist and other aspects to make your day memorable. We also run ‘Marriage Preparation’ courses for couples. For any enquiries just call the Parish Office on 351 7064 or complete the wedding contact form below.
The parish hall has a great atmosphere for weddings
We would be privileged to support you at the time of death of your loved one. We have a number of experienced priests who are able to guide and support you at the time of your loss. Currently funerals take place in the Parish Hall because the Church is unavailable. The Hall is warm, light and a beautiful space for funeral services. However if you would like to use a funeral director’s chapel one of our clergy would be very happy to plan and lead the service for you. Please ring the Parish Office on 351 7064 for further information.
