Greetings members of the St Barnabas family,
Pip and I arrived back early from our annual leave on Sunday and began in the parish yesterday. I congratulate Jenny and the staff team for doing such a great job last week as they responded to a constantly changing crisis situation. We do live in unprecedented times with Alert Level 4 announced yesterday and 48 hours to prepare for lock-down. Please find below some important information about what the clergy and lay staff are doing and the ways in which we can all support one another to get through.
Staff: Parish staff are now all working from their homes and will fully comply with government regulations regarding self-isolation. Personal inconvenience now will save lives later.
Pastoral Care: The staff are in the process of phoning all parishioners who are on our congregation lists. This is to check that they are OK, have pastoral support and the means to access food and pharmaceutical supplies. If you’re not called by a member of staff you may alternatively be phoned by a leader if you belong to the In-Betweens AAW, Daytime AAW, Men’s Group, Play Group, mainly music, Fridayzone, English Language Class, Eldercare Group, Retirement Villages or Lent Groups. It will take us a few days to get through our lists! If you know of anyone who has not been contacted by Friday 27th please let Jenny Wilkens know by emailing email@example.com.
Website: Our website contains a range of resources – both practical and spiritual https://stbarnabas.org.nz/spiritual-resources/– including prayers, readings, sermons https://stbarnabas.org.nz/sermons/ , children’s activities https://stbarnabas.org.nz/childrens-resources/, news, relevant articles and YouTube videos. Check this out at www.stbarnabas.org.nz.
FaceBook: Rev Jenny is posting a prayer and/or a reading at the end of each day. To access this content regularly follow us at https://www.facebook.com/St.Barnabas.NZ/. Lifestreamers can join the Lifestreams Family private group – contact Liz Yeoh firstname.lastname@example.org
Morning Prayer: I’m experimenting by offering a short Morning Prayer service each morning. More details to follow.
Email: I will send out a weekly email to the parish each Friday at noon to keep you all up to date.
Sunday Worship: A form of worship will be offered on Sunday – more details to follow.
Much more could be said but I will send another email out at noon on Friday and I will do that each week.
Do get in touch with us by email or phone if there’s any way we can support you, or if you are concerned about another parishioner’s wellbeing. We’re praying for you all. Lean into Christ, reach out to others and may God’s grace be with your all,
