Last Thursday we celebrated the International Day of Older Persons. This special day was created by the United Nations in 1990, and according to the UN “Over the next three decades, the number of older persons worldwide is projected to more than double, reaching more than 1.5 billion persons in 2050.”
At St Barnabas we have around 60 people in their 90th year and over. They have lived through The Depression, WWII, the 60s, car-less days and now Covid-19.
Last year, in honour of that generation, we had a lovely afternoon high tea and sing along with Denis Guyan. It was so popular that it has now become an annual event at St Barnabas. This year we opened it up to those in their 90th year. However due to Covid-19 we have put it out to the 28th October. Invitations are going out this week. Contact the office if you are eligible and would like to come.
