January Summer Camp: The St Barnabas Youth Group (SBYG) is planning a three day camp at Glenroy Lodge, near Hororata, from 15 – 17 January next year. The theme for the camp will be ‘Caring for Creation’, as we follow one of the 5 Marks of Mission. Our intention is to explore some of the areas around Lake Coleridge and become more aware of what God has blessed us with, in terms of plants and wildlife. We will also plan and prepare our own worship service on the Sunday. The Lodge has a large number of activities on offer so we will also play lots of sports, ride on the flying fox and enjoy the waterslide. Knowing our young people we will also enjoy plenty of tasty food!

With our camp being at the beginning of the year my prayer is that this time together will strengthen our relationships as a group of young Christian people and grow in our faith journey.

I am also hoping we can help in some way in the Lake Coleridge area, whether it be planting, tending or tidying up…watch this space! Our aim will be to look beyond our own camp environment and challenge ourselves to leave one small part of God’s creation better than how we found it.

Our young people are very grateful for the generosity and encouragement we have received from so many of our parishioners towards our camp fundraising. Thank you and bless you all!

Deeper Camp 2020: On October 30th and 31st five of our young people, plus Robyn, attended the Christchurch Anglican Youth Camp for Year 7 -9 students at Woodend Camp. We experienced some wonderful times of fellowship, friendship and faith. We heard from three inspiring and engaging speakers, each supported before and after by some amazing music and worship.

We enjoyed some great activities, including aerojump, flying fox, rock climbing, archery, capture the flag (starring Bishop Peter), water bomb fights and sailing along the water slide! The food was superb – just ask Theo!
