Farewell Watiri: Today is Watiri’s last day in the parish as our Pastoral Care Coordinator. Watiri has been with the parish for exactly a year but we formed strong bonds of affection with her as she worked conscientiously and effectively in this role. On Friday night she was ordained Deacon in what was a very memorable and joyful service. In the next few weeks Watiri and Steve will shift to Nelson to take up new challenges. We wish them well and will continue to pray that God would bless them both together with their two girls.
Newcomer Coordinators: About a month ago I advertised the new voluntary position of Newcomers Coordinator. There was no
response, however since then, individuals from separate congregations have agreed to undertake this role for their particular congregations. This has turned out to be a really good way forward! I would like to commission those involved in the next while so we can support them in these roles. It’s vitally important that we make new folk feel welcomed and a part of our church family. This is all about following Jesus and extending God’s love!
The Jesus Storybook Bible: I have just received 5 copies of a new children’s Bible entitled ‘The Jesus Storybook Bible’. The subtitle is ‘Every story whispers his name.’ This indicates the author’s intention to include in every Bible story the way in which Jesus is the focus and fulfillment of the whole of Scripture. It is beautifully illustrated and would make a perfect gift for a family with young children. The cost is $25 – I have left them at the back of the church for you to look at and perhaps purchase. Please pay at the office.
